Hong Kong: The perfect transition from Western to Eastern culture

I arrived safely in Hong Kong Monday night, July 1, after almost 24 hours of travel! Thankfully I was able to sleep for most of the three flights, so jet lag hasn't been all that bad. My first full day in HK my friends I'm staying with took me to a local restaurant where I got to experience dim sum for the first time. Dim sum is a traditional Cantonese style breakfast. Ours included congee (a delicious, thick rice soup), many varieties of dumplings, squid, and chicken feet.

Yes, I tried everything. I don't recommend the chicken feet!

Hong Kong was a perfect place for me to make the transition from Western culture over to Eastern culture because both are so heavily mixed. You can get fried noodles or Popeye's chicken, local tea or Starbucks, and every sign is written in both Cantonese and English.

Hong Kong is unbelievably hot and humid at this time of year. Normally it would be raining a lot too, but I experienced nothing but sunshine while I was there. If you ever come,be sure to bring the lightest clothing and the most comfortable shoes you can find!

Riding the tram to the top
For my last full day in HK, we went up to Victoria Peak (the highest point on the island proper) to watch the sun set and the city light up. It was beautiful! Well worth the long, sweaty wait for the tram and all of the pushing and shoving for a good view up top.

I hope to post soon about Mainland China, but who knows! I tend to be inconsistent with stuff like this.
